POST 9 - ENGLISH

My experience learning English at the university has been quite simple. I have gone to several classes and I have worried about missing only in the extremely necessary situations like when there is a test the next day. Going to classes makes me feel that I have learned, especially blogging. Blogs are a very entertaining and creative idea that helps a lot to reinforce the way of writing in English, in addition, most of the times the topics are quite interesting so I do not find it difficult to comply with the amount of words needed and it is enough to know to my classmates.

Personally, what I find most difficult in English is grammar, I never understand the times in which they are written in English, but for this I think the best thing I could do is watch movies in English because being honest, I know that I will devote myself to doing exercises or anything like that. There are people who say that it also helps to listen to music in English, but I always do it and I do not notice any change

Outside of English clases, I do not usually use this language very much, mainly it can be for when I watch movies, but nowadays all the movies have subtitles, although there are some videos on YouTube that do not have and it helps me to know a little English. It can also be in websites that are in English and have no translation, but beyond these things I do not usually use it in my daily life, that does not mean that it is not important to learn English because after graduating I intend to travel and there it goes to be important that I know how to speak in English.

POST 8 - EVOLUTION

My favorite subject this semester is Evolution. This class is really fun and interesting because not everything was cathedra, we also did practical activities those that were very entertaining and we have different evaluations methods such as seminars or written works and dissertations. In fact, thanks to this subject we went to an evangelical mass and there many fun things happened to us. Besides the contents that I learn were unknown then they made me change the way I see some things, for example when we have the class about the human microevolution and in the first class I remember the teacher explained different things about the universe that nobody knew so well all ended impacted. We have spent more contents but it’s a lot to explain here.

I like this subject because I thing I learn a lot and the teacher are really lovely and she has the entire disposition to teach us, also the contents of the class are things that I did not know or suspect and how there are different methods to evaluate it is difficult for one to reject the subject and this help to learn more.

POST 7 - LÉVI-STRAUSS

I admire Claude Lévi-strauss. He was a French anthropologist and ethnologist whose applied structuralism to knish system, to cultural anthropology and to study of classification and myths. He received numerous honors from university and institutions throughout the world and he is recognized like “the father of modern anthropology”.One of its principal postulates is that the “savage” mind had the same structures as the “civilized” mind and the human structures characteristics are the same everywhere. All this work culminated in his famous book “Tristes Tropiques” that establish his position as one of the central figures in the structuralism school of thought.  I like him because in class we had to read a small text that he wrote and it’s really interesting because his ideas are so contrived and innovative, he is different from the rest. Even thought I had a bad great in the evaluation of that text because at first I don’t understand his ideas, now I think that hi is a really good anthropology and his theories are very complete.
